PRF Restoration Results

Hair loss and skin changes are common signs of aging. PRF is a promising new treatment for various facial and dental procedures and can also stimulate natural hair growth.

Platelet-rich fibrin, or PRF, is a fibrin matrix comprised of platelet cytokines, growth factors, and cells and is used as a natural aesthetic injectable that promotes healing and tissue regeneration. PRF is an ideal treatment for many facial and dental procedures, including tooth extractions, periodontal surgery, and dental implants. When used for facials it improves skin tone and texture and can also promote natural hair growth.

This specific platelet mixture helps build tissue and is known to stimulate stem cells. When used during a facial procedure, PRF stimulates cell renewal and triggers the production of collagen and elastin, which creates a lifting and volumizing effect on the skin. Once PRF is injected, the skin begins to repair and rejuvenate itself with the help of the growth factors. It’s an excellent way to enhance skin quality at the temples, around the eyes, and to create more supple, smooth skin around the mouth.

One of the key benefits of PRF is that it is a minimally invasive procedure with a low chance of complications. Most patients are candidates for PRF fillers as the product is created from your own blood, which your body recognizes. The procedure is safe for anyone who wants more youthful-looking skin in areas of the face and neck. PRF injections are also used to stimulate hair growth and may be a valid treatment for those suffering from hair loss.

PRF also helps with healing, which is why PRF injections are being used during dental procedures with excellent outcomes.

How does PRF procedures work?

First, you will meet with Dr. MacFarlane to examine your skin or hair loss concerns and determine whether PRF treatment is right for you. If you are determined to be a candidate, one vial of blood is obtained from your arm prior to the therapy similar to a routine blood test. The blood is then deposited in a centrifuge to separate the PRF from other blood components. The PRF is extracted from the top of the vial and inserted into a syringe once the separation is complete. The PRF is then ready to be injected into your skin.

PRF has been utilized for years in the field of medicine and continues to grow in popularity as patients see the benefit of using their own blood—eliminating the risk of allergic reactions to products or medications foreign to the body.
